Both poets, Armitage and Burnside efficaciously craft the structural linguistic components, to elucidate how destructive major world events may be upon individuals, forcing them to perhaps alter their direction of comfort towards nature and the gifted world surrounding them; the extents to which they may experience comforting sensations may become altered as well. Burnside’s poem reflects on looking at the world around them and to value the natural creations, which in this instance acts as a coping mechanism to the speaker’s philosophical conflict upon “ how to be alive”.
