RESEARCH- IN A NUTSHELL Identify your aim- This is the introductory part that tells the reader, i.e me, what you are trying to do. It could be, for example, what business are you trying to open up OR how tourism has affected locals OR what international and domestic tourists think of the attractions/prices/infrastructure etc etc Be very specific. Make a plan- Tell me the steps you will take to achieve your aim. What will you need to do? Who will you need to consult? What will you need to prepare BEFORE we go to Rotorua? (Surveys, questionnaires, other primary data). Collect and record your data- On the trip. This may be the hard copies of surveys you have ALREADY made. Remember that we want to be able to provide visual forms of data eg graphs, tables, photos, maps to support all of this. Analyse your data: That means discuss what you can see from the survey results, questionnaires and the graphs or tables you have created. Remember that when you talk about these numbers/graphs, relate them back to your aim. ie Why is it important to your particular project? What is it showing you? After all your analysing of data MAKE A DECISION! This is your conclusion. So make conclusive statements! Is it going to work? Is it not going to work? How do you know? Where's the evidence to support your decision? Leave me in no doubt you know what you are talking about. Back it up with some secondary data which supports or negaters your primary data. Evaluation: So now you've done the research, what worked well and what didn't work well? For the stuff you did well, why is that important for your research result? Does it validate your decision(s)? Is your data reliable? If not, why not? How could you fix that in the future to make it more reliable? What effect would this have?
