Minor: (with a big smile) Good morning. Customer: Good morning. I would like to open a bank account. Bank Officer: Sure thing. What kind of account would you like to open? A savings account or a checking account? Customer: What's the difference? Bank Officer: A checking account is designed to use for everyday transactions. Yet; the money in a savings account is meant to stay in the account and earn interest over time. Customer: I see, actually I want to open a bank account for my son/daughter. Bank Officer: (Looking at minor) How old are you? Minor: I’m nine years old. Bank Officer: Alright, then you need to open a savings bank account. For your information our bank provides 3-in- 1 Junior Account, which is the only junior account that comes with a savings account, a reloadable debit card and a high interest fixed deposit account. You may either choose the whole package or the preferred one. Customer: Can you explain more about this package? Bank Officer: Yeah sure. The initial deposit to open the Junior Savings Account is RM 1. If you want a Junior Debit Card, an issuance fee of RM8 will be charged. For the Junior Fixed Deposit Account, the minimum deposit placement of RM1000 required. Customer: Well, for the moment I’d like to open the junior saving account only along with the debit card. Bank Officer: Sure. You have to fill up the application form, and submit it along with necessary documents. Customer: What are the documents that I have to attach with the application form? Bank Officer: You have to attach parent or legal guardian's MyKad/passport, your son/daughter's birth certificate and MyKid along with any supporting documents such as driving licence, valid passport or utility bills.
