This company is headquartered in Brenford where its primary function is as a multinational pharmaceutical company. GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK) was established by a merger in 2000 by Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham. GSK had its first female CEO in the figure of Emma Walmsley on 31 March 2017i . GSK's drugs and vaccines earned revenue of £21.3 billion in 2013ii . Its top-selling products that year were Advair, Avodart, Flovent, Augmentin, Lovaza and Lamictal. GSK’s consumer products, which earned a revenue of £5.2 billion in 2013. Nicoderm and Nicorette nicotine replacements, and Night Nurse, a cold remedy. The company developed the first malaria vaccine, RTS,S, which it said in 2014 it would make available for five percent above cost. Legacy products developed at GSK include several listed in the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines, such as amoxicillin, mercaptopurine, pyrimethamine and zidovudine. Two whistle-blowers represented by Phillips & Cohen provided the crucial evidence that launched federal investigations into Glaxosmithkline’s marketing practices, and resulted in the record $3 billion settlement in Washington DC.
