Heat is a form of energy that is transferred between two substances at different temperatures. It flows from high temperature to low temperature. The temperature change in substances is dependable the specific quantity of heat that is being absorb. This concept is defined as ‘specific heat’. The specific heat capacity of a substance is the quantity of heat energy required to increase the temperature of 1kg of the substances by10C or 1k. Therefore, more energy is required in order to heat water compared to heating a paper cup (Foo ST,2007). Hence, in this experiment, we will find out the possibilities if water in a paper cup can be heated until it boils.
