Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the tissue that surround and support the teeth. Periodontal health is the pre-requisite of a successful comprehensive dentistry. The periodontal restorative interrelationship is a very crucial relationship in treatment planning of a patient as it predicts the outcome of the restorative treatment and the periodontal health from the perspective of aesthetics, functional and comfort of the dentitions. The interrelationship of periodontics and restorative can be divided into two part in which the effect of restorative to periodontal, and the effect of periodontal health to the restoration. The relationship of restorative to periodontal can explained in several area including location of restorative margins, margin adaptation, contours, occlusion, and response of gingival tissues to the restorative preparation. It is important to know the relationship between restorative and periodontics as a proper managed restoration can provide a proper function at the same time of maintain a harmony relationship with the surrounding periodontal tissues.
