Part 1: The issue here is that the company being audited have not completed their financial statements and have asked their auditors to complete it for them. Relevant law include s307, s324CA, s286(1), and Daniels v Anderson (1996). Firstly, the auditors have to decline the offer to complete the financial statements. Their job is to audit. Furthermore, if they were to assist in the audit, they would be breaching section 324CA, which states that auditors have the obligation to avoid conflicts of interest – in this case, the conflict would be that they would audit their own work.
