Abstract Gino’s research found out that priming money increases the possibility of cheating by decreasing self-reflection, while priming time decreases the possibility of cheating by increasing self-reflection. In a word, it is the self-reflection that influences the unethical behaviour, and some other researches also show the same results. However, in this particular experiment, underlying defects are in some parts of the experimental design and inconsistency can be observed when comparing the data between four experiments. This essay will divide the focusing paper’s result into three inferences and test the validity of them separately. First inference is priming money increases the possibility of cheating while priming time decreases it; second is priming money lowers self-reflection while priming time increases it; third is a higher self-reflection is correlated with a lower possibility of cheating. After assessing the focus paper, I conclude that the validity the focus paper may need further consideration.
