9 Pages Essays / Projects Year: Pre-2021

Al Qaeda (‘AQ’) was created in 1989 as Soviet force withdrew from Afghanistan and Osama Bin Laden (‘OBL’) and Ayman Al-Zawahirir began looking for new jihads to join their organisation, what was most ironic about the leaders of this terrorist group is that they were intelligent, wealthy and educated (Gurski 2016, p.6). AQ’s history is deep, with it being most successful when it was under the control of OBL (Jones & Eilstrup-Sangiovanni 2008, p.8) at the time 9/11 took place, instilling fear into the national security of the once ignorant and innocent America (Jessee 2006, p.383).
