Since the ending of the Cold War, the discussion of non-traditional security and has gradually expanded to all range of threats around the globe (Beri, 2007). A number of potential threats have drawn great attention in the recent decade because of its great significance. One of these threats with growing concern is associated with environmental security. As climate change becomes more and more obvious, the heated debate over the complexity and uncertainties about the potential impact of climate change has gathered global recognition (McCright et al. 2000, p. 501). A number of leading security scholars, scientists and politicians are calling for immediate action for minimising the impacts of climate change. With a rich body of proof, the conclusions that climate change is real fact has been fully confirmed, which regarded as a global security challenge with enormous significance. In the same way, human security is also a relatively important threat. This concept came from the first Human Development Report published in 1994 by the United Nations Development program. From that time, the aim of the annual report is to ensure "freedom from want" and "freedom from fear" for all human and the report continues to pave the path to tackle the problem of human insecurity. (UNDP, 1994) The classical idea that human development is not just about the growth of the economy, but the sustainability of the human population to overcome the global security challenge is adopted in the studies of human security. In addition, ontological security has also gradually become the centre of the political arena. This has broadened the concept of security studies by constructing it as multiple perspectives. (Porter & Mundkur 2012, p. 26). Our focus in this essay is the impact of globalisation and growing feminist sentiment in modern society. It will be explored through the distinctive views regarding the “referent object” and its implication. Nowadays, the spotlight is directed towards the experiences and voices of self with an emphasis on social change and equal rights, which aims to protect the ontological security of the population. To sum up, these three non-traditional security issues share several important similarities such as the great impact on the human being, the capability to direct public or state attention, the urgency for taking action and the universal insecurity shared by a number of actors.
