Investigation 6: Magnetic fields, the Earth, Faraday’s law and generators Relationship Magnetic Field strength and distance: The first graph illustrates that magnetic field strength decreases quadratically with increasing distance. The second graph shows that magnetic field strength is linearly related to the inverse square of the distance. This suggests an inverse square relationship between magnetic field strength and distance. As distance approaches infinity, magnetic field strength approaches zero. Relationship between the field lines inside and outside the magnet: The field lines travel from the North Pole inside the magnet, to the outside, moving in a loop and re-entering the magnet at the South Pole.
