Investigation 6: Magnetic fields, the Earth, Faraday’s law and generators Introduction In this investigation you will start by investigating the magnetic field surrounding and inside a bar magnet and the Earth. You will be using a simulation for this experiment as the equipment needed to actually conduct the experiment is specialized, expensive and can be dangerous (electromagnets get hot!). After investigating the properties of a magnet you will collect data to demonstrate Faraday’s law of induction and then investigate how a generator works.
