This report provides a critical reflection on the design and implementation of the new Ocean View Apartments (OVA) database which has been proposed by our team. OVA is an organization that is likely to grow and change in the future, containing multiple user needs. As such, a clear understanding of what the database’s current ethical implications, strengths, limitations is crucial. The first component of the report discusses the ethical considerations which must be considered when implementing the database system. Due to complexities relating to the way data is used in the modern age and the nature of database ownership, inevitably ethical issues will arise when OVA management implements this database. Therefore, this analysis is a critical component to this report as it details possible problems that may need to be navigated in the future. The second part of the report explores the noteworthy features and areas of possible improvement for the database. The designed database has numerous strong qualities, such as its appropriate use of constraints to retain data integrity. Nevertheless, the database has many areas in which its functionality can be further extended in the future. The final section of the report provides a specific and in-depth reflection on the contributions of our team members to this project. Teamwork and collaboration have played a large part in the completion of our final deliverables to OVA, therefore understanding the team dynamics may provide useful insight into the creation process behind the database. As a whole, the database effectively meets the needs of OVA’s management team, based upon the business rules specified in the requirements. Whilst there is room for improvement for the database, this database project has been an incredibly valuable learning experience for our team and we have clearly identified what areas would be useful for the database to extend upon in the future.
