80 (distinction) Deregulation of Australia’s University Fees will see an exponential rise in the cost of a higher education, with an increase of at least 30% and some degrees reaching as much as 60%.1 The removal of government intervention would replicate the same factors of a free market, where the Universities will compete for students and set prices in accordance to demand and supply as well as competition. In order to grasp an understanding of the potential outcomes that would rise from the deregulation, we turn towards two of the most influential economists of their time: Karl Heinrich Marx and David Ricardo.
