Introduction: Enzymes are biological catalysts, they aid chemical reactions that take place in the body without being consumed, they increase the rate of activity and this increases the efficiency of the reaction1. Enzymes work best in certain ranges of pressure, temperature, acidity and concentrations. Plant and animal enzymes have different temperature-dependent optimums because they function differently. Animals have more complicated processes to conduct such as movement and maintenance of homeostasis, which needs to take place to enable efficient function. Animal enzymes have their optimums at about 37o Celsius which is the stable internal temperature of most mammals. Plants can grow in many different temperatures and have mechanisms that enable their best survival. Plant enzymes generally work at an optimum temperature of around 25oC because they can ...
