This article analyzes the risk and vulnerability issues related to substance abuse identified in ‘In My Skin: A Memoir’ by Kate Holden. When these issues are considered, the first perception as lay man in normal context is that the drug addicts are from abusive or broken backgrounds with self-destructive impulse and worse manners directing to the pitfalls of crime, but here, it is not like that. In this article, the research on prevalence of substance abuse, correlating the effects and factors considering the issues in case material will be analysed. The aetiology of substance abuse considering the same will also be presented.
