Look back at your career plan; explain why it is relevant (needed) for your future: As I look back to my career plan which is to get good ATAR in Year 12 (95+) with SACE certificate, which will get me enrolled in BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) (First Preference) in University of Adelaide, which the course would run for 5 years and in that I wanted to get good grades. Personal Interest Project - Power and Authority Within Disabilities

This student studied:
HSC - Year 11 - Society and Culture

Having a family member with a disability can not only impact the individual but also their families in which they live and communicate with. These effects can have a dramatic influence on the family system, with most of these changes lasting a long period of time. The degree of impact that is placed on each family will depend on the disability type, age of the person with a disability and the family in which the person lives and communicated with. Looking specifically at young people with disabilities, their impact in regards to power and authority in a household can be dramatic with a change on how the family dynamics work in different nations. I will be investigating on the specific impacts that are implanted into families with having a child with and how the household affects the control and supremacy with different family members. This will be looked at from a parent or guardian’s viewpoint and will reflect on their current situation with their own child. The secondary information will be gathered from material in sources such as the internet and books and will be supported by a methodology which will be an interview. This method will be completed by my mother who is in Western culture living with disabled child. The questions will be asked in person and will be recorded so I will be able to write down the answers after the interview. There will be set questions to answer but there may be more questions asked due to the questions being unrestricted. I believe that interviewing my mother for my research methodology will be beneficial for my investigation because it will give me an in-depth understanding into the way in which the participants interpret their experiences first-hand. It will enable me to obtain detailed information which is both personal and descriptive and explore the views on the specific
