This investigation aims to apply one’s knowledge of statistical averages to investigate the relationship between the level of higher education and sex in Australia. Although social norms and expectations of sex roles have been everchanging over the course of years, gender inequity persists in the number of participants in each level of higher education. As gender stereotypes influence learning opportunities and future career prospects, this investigation provides information about gender imbalances in Australia in higher education. And also briefly connecting to gender segregation in fields of study and pay inequality. This data is obtained from the 2011 Census database, in which every five years, Australians initiate a national census that accumulates key demographic, economic and social data. The government uses the information obtained in the Census to provide such a summary of the population and allocate tax-payer funds to appropriate sectors. The investigation aims to determine whether to entice discussion on the visitation of gender inequity in Australia and to emphasise the importance of ending discrimination and gender roles to provide equal opportunity for education.
