This direct investigation aims to explore how effectively arch bridges can be modelled using parabolic functions. Arch can be defined as a structure, consisting of a curved top on two supports, which holds the weight of something above it. The selected bridge for this investigation is a Chinese arch bridge, located at Yunlong lake Xuzhou . Measure of the efficiency on the arch bridge will involve using technology software called Geogebra. The image is resized and positioned with bottom of arch bridge touching the origin. Ten points are selected on the bridge to construct appropriate quadratic models (refer to figure 1).
