The film Freedom Writers, directed by Richard La Gravenese and released in 2004, is an American film. Based on the real story of a devoted and principled, young teacher by the name of Erin Gruwell, Ms. Gruwell inspired and educated her class of underprivileged, confrontational students that there is hope for a life outside of crime and violence. Freedom Writers regards the developing lives and futures of a class from their Freshman to Senior years. The film takes perspective on multiple stories within Freedom Writers and provides insight to the internal and external struggles of numerous protagonists. The incorporation of film techniques within Freedom Writers provided the movie with depth and further meaning with the utilisation of visual and verbal effects.
