Not only is Animal Farm a literary masterpiece but also an illustration of Orwell’s conscious attempt to expose totalitarianism (Orwell, 1946). In Animal Farm, Orwell allegorically retelling the major historical events of Russia during its revolution and the reign of Joseph Stalin. Historical events such as Stalin’s Five-Year Plan, Stalin’s Great Purge and Germany’s invasion of Russia are represented in the novel as the failure of the windmill, execution of the pigs and chickens and The Battle of the Windmill, respectively. To begin with, Orwell parallels Stalin’s five-year plans by illustrating the failure of the windmill.
