Gorgon, written and directed by Elena Carapetis performed at the Golden Grove Recreation Centre on the 10th of May, explores the relationship of two best mates, Lee and Maz. Played by James Smith and Chiara Gabriella, Lee and Maz are the embodiment of youth, high on life, until tragedy descends upon them, leaving only one in eternal isolation and regret. Gorgon reveals to the audience how society forces men to suppress their emotion and the power of vulnerability.

Gorgon reveals to the audience how society forces men to suppress their emotion and the power of vulnerability. Gorgon tells the story of two best mates, Lee and Maz, who are in the prime of their typical teenage lives. Maz receives his first car on his 18th birthday, shared by his twin sister Lola, and decides, along with Lee, to “chuck a Hindley”. The two teens set out for the streets of Adelaide with a sense of accomplishment and desire, as if the world was theirs for the taking.
