Acetic acid (CH 3 COOH) is a weak acid and is only partly ionized in water, as shown in the equation: Titration must be performed in order to find the acetic acid concentration in vinegar. In this process, an unknown solution is found through the use of a known concentration. In the case of this experiment, a standard solution of sodium hydroxide was used to determine the acetic acid concentration of vinegar. Aim To find the concentration of acetic acid in white vinegar through titration.
