In this paper I question the role of sexual fantasy and how it relates to the subsequent arousal and acting out of that behaviour. I will argue that the role of sexual fantasy in sexual homicide is multifaceted and interrelated with various other important factors associated with sexual offending. First, a definition of sexual fantasy and sexual homicide will be provided, followed by a comparison between sexual homicide offenders and non-sexual homicide offenders. An examination of the literature providing arguments for sexual fantasy playing a role in sex crimes will also be discussed. The essay will conclude with an explanation of the role of sexual fantasy in sexual homicide being multifaceted and interrelated with various other important factors contribute to sexual offending.
