Task: Write an analytical essay which examines the nature of religion-state relationships in Australia and how this relationship has changed since 1945 with respect to the issue of asylum seekers. Grade received: A Thesis statement: For the most part, religion-state relationships were harmonious in the 20th century and this is evidenced in policies which were often closely aligned. However, dissension has grown of late particularly over the issue of refugees. The purpose of this research journal is to verify the authenticity of the findings presented in the essay. This research journal endeavours to analyse the following: • Analyse religion – state relationship within Australia prior to 1945 • Analyse changes to the religion state relationship post 1945 • Evaluate to what extent religious groups in Australia are impacting on the formation of Australia government policy with regards to asylum seekers.
