A majority of disputes tend to be resolved using ADR. ADR is a way of dealing with disputes and conflicts. It is a process other than litigating. There are different types of dispute resolution mechanisms. Consensual problem solving means that you can choose to use a particular form of dispute resolution. In most cases, litigation is far too expensive, and so ADR is access to justice for many people; it is quick in comparison to litigation, cheaper than litigating matters and it is also just in that it provides with a fair outcome. The most basic form of ADR is that of negotiation. The area of law dictates your dispute resolution method (for more specific areas of law such as discrimination law, employment law, family law etc.) Dispute resolution is a significant tool in the administration of justice and the conduct of business
