intro Cognitive development study is an important part in children education as it plays a major role in demonstrating how a child is able to absorb any new information that is given to them from a young age until later years. During time a number of theories were imposed, yet Piaget and Vygotsky theories are the main developments of cognitive theories to be introduced. These theories provide an understanding on how a person develops from the age of infancy till adulthood and the cognitive changes that’s is undergone through this process (Lourenco, 2012).Piaget states that throughout this time the child goes through four stages of development and then details what will be achieved upon completion of each stage while Vygotsky focuses his theories on the gathering of information and social interaction the child received from the knowledge that is seen through these interactions (Lourenco, 2012). Throughout this essay both Piaget and Vygotsky theories will be looked upon and demonstrate how these principles are applied on a scenario of a year 5 educator Ann’s classroom. Furthermore conclude both the importance and the negative aspects of these principles on the classroom and how different tactics may be used.
