Lisdexamphetamine Dimesyate is a form of this medication that requires conversion to its active form Dextroamphetamine in the blood stream. (Wood and Krasowski 402-405) • Lisdexamfetamine was the first prodrug approved for management and control of people with ADHD in 2007. (Heal et al. 479-496) • Dextroamphetamine, like other amphetamines, produce indirect sympathetic activation through a series of mechanisms all resulting in the release of the neurotransmitters dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine from the system terminals of the autonomic and central nervous system (ANS, CNS).
