Ultimately, such a society would be inclined to challenge policy such as the mandatory sentencing regime through drawing on the principles enumerated in a Bill of Rights. Secondly, a Bill of Rights would force parliament to legislate in ways that did not infringe with the rights bestowed to its citizens.
