2 Pages • Essays / Projects • Year: Pre-2018
Ethical teachings about the environment in Islam are derived from the Quran and Sunnah which form the foundations and basis for ethical teachings. The three main central beliefs include Tawhid, Khalifa and Akhira which are the pillars of environmental ethics in Islam. The Quran contains important principles that apply to the environment. The teachings of the Prophet (Hadith) have a number of important statements that apply to Islamic ethical teachings. Sharia law includes many teachings which explain the application of Islamic principles to areas not specially mentioned in the Quran. In this way, Islamic sources of authority guide Muslims to care for the environment in a sustainable way.
