What were the social and religious conditions like in pre-Islamic Arabia? The social behaviour in Pre-Islamic Arabia was dangerous. There was no unity between tribes, and the tribes were violent. Raiding, fighting and feuds were common. People were immoral, and as there was no legal system or laws there were no punishments. Rights were neglected causing disorder. Society was polytheistic- God’s and goddesses protected tribes. Allah was the highest God. Spirits of the Gods were associated with sacred objects found in nature. List the principal events in Muhammad’s life: • Muhammad was born into the Quraush tribe circa in 570CE in Makkah. • He was a merchant and a shepherd. • He later married Khadijah – (she was 40, he was 25), and had 2 sons and 4 daughters. The two sons were names Qasim and Abdullah however they passed away. Their daughters were named Zainab, Ruqaiyyah, Umm Kulthum
