How does training affect performance? Students learn about: ENERGY SYSTEMS Energy is found in food, and the energy is measured in kilojoules. Base metabolic rate (bmr) is the minimum amount of kilojoules the body requires for it to function and stay alive; any extra activity requires more energy. Foods can be broken into carbohydrates, fats and proteins, which each supplies different nutrition and amounts of kilojoules to the body: - Protein contains 17 kilojoules per gram - Fat contains 37 kilograms per gram - Carbohydrate contains 16 kilojoules per gram
