Throughout the Second Indochina War, opposing forces utilised diverse strategies and tactics in an attempt to ultimately claim victory against their opponents to varying degrees of success The communist military wing of North Vietnam, the Viet Cong, engaged in a guerilla warfare strategy which took advantage of natural features to wage surprise attacks against their enemies. American forces rather utilised familiar and conventional air and ground military tactics in attempt to claim the North. The Tet Offensive waged by the North in 1968 was another significant strategy which notably impacted the morale of American troops and subsequently contributed to communist victory. The use of Guerilla Warfare by the elite fighting force the Viet Cong was highly effective in decreasing the morale of American troops and catalysing the events leading to communist victory. The...
