Following the Nazi rise to power in 1933, Adolf Hitler and his government conducted and implemented a foreign policy that was aimed at creating a Grossdeutschland, dominate Western Europe, create lebensraum, end the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles and remilitarise Germany. Nazi foreign policy was inherently nationalistic and expansionistic as the Germans experienced great success in their plight for German hegemony and were very successful in achieving the foreign policy aims to September 1939, however, they ultimately feel short in completely achieving these aims, as is abundantly clear in the collapse of the Third Reich in 1945.
