1. weimar republic 1918-1919 Founding the republic (born into strife;; suppression of the radical Left, constitution writing, disappointment at Versailles) Difficulty implementing democracy: flaws in the constitution and mistakes made by politicians inexperienced with ruling means democracy is never really successful. • The Social Democrats (SPD) feared that the extremists (left) would take over the revolution following the Kiel mutiny (establishment of the Weimar Republic).
