Privacy issues in the past few years have increasing become a problem in society due to the immense change in technology. There have been legal and non-legal mechanisms that have been moderately effective in regard to dealing with privacy technology related issues, in specific revenge porn. Revenge porn is revealing sexually explicit images or videos of a person that is posted on the internet, typically by a former sexual partner, without consent of the subject and in order to cause them distress or embarrassment. Legal mechanisms are utilised to create a system that achieves a certain legal goal, to achieve justice for society. Examples of a legal mechanism in relation to technology related privacy issues are state parliament and legislation. While there are legal mechanisms to assist in bettering society, there are also non-legal mechanisms leading to the creation of legislation, such as the Federal Government. Legal and non-legal mechanisms have been successful to a certain degree, however the judicial system is experiencing law lag. The term law lag means that the law falls behinds societies ever changing needs and lags behind crimes that are being committed, therefore offenders who should be committed aren’t. Addressing the issue of privacy there has been effective use of legal and non-legal mechanisms to keep up with societies changing standards and needs.
