English Essay/Speech for Journeys

English (Advanced)

3 Pages Essays / Projects Year: Pre-2018

Throughout Dawe’s poetry we explore many concepts relating to physical journeys. A dominant one is that physical journeys bring out the individual’s reflective capacity, making them more receptive to the world around them. This notion is seen in Dawe’s poem ‘Exiles’ and a novel by Moya Simon’s, ‘Let Me Whisper You My Story’. For me, this book and ‘Exiles’ maintained a strong relationship as they both discuss the effects of physical journeys, this is why Dawes’ poetry has been chosen for senior students because it is so easily relatable and its concepts are so diverse.
