This is a band 6 speech, composed on the prescribed text , "The book thief". This goes into depth into multiple scenes of the novel and analyses a range of literary techniques and language devices. it would suffice as an appropriate source to model an essay or create further study notes. for example: This episode becomes an allegory for Hitler’s rise to power Through Zusaks ability to use words to persuade and manipulate he conveys a great level of unfairness between the two sides, which I think can be captured in this quote. “It was the Fuhrers chin that had sustained the blow. All at once, he hit the ropes and creased forward, landing on his knees. This time, there was no count. The referee flinched in the corner.” From this, we can see the intense level of inequity that exists throughout the fight, which acts as an extended metaphor representing the unequal power between the Jewish, and the Nazis, Max and Hitler, hopeless and dominant
