This subject is designed to provide students with the opportunity to undertake a clinically relevant program of learning in functional anatomy of the head and neck and to continue to develop their basic dental skills in simulated and actual clinical environments. The anatomy component of the subject will cover the skeletal, muscular, vascular and nervous tissue components of the head and neck with a strong emphasis on function as it relates to dentistry and a special focus on pain control and administering local anaesthesia. The clinical component of the subject will have a focus on patient examination and introductory treatment planning as well as simple restorative dentistry and periodontal treatments (including preventive dentistry).
