The Ottawa charter for health promotion is a model of health that was signed in Ottawa Canada at the international conference on health promotion November 1986, more than 30 years ago (WHO, 1986). It highlights five areas to promote health on a global level, overcoming disparities and imbalances within the health care system (McMurray, et al, 2014).
