Genetics 2014 Format for karyotyping lab assessment This is to be written in a format that does not conform to that of a traditional scientific journal article. You must include a title of your choice 1. Introduction a. human chromosomes: role, distinctives (eg number, autosomes and sex chromosomes), heterochromatin and euchromatin b. karyotyping: purpose (with respect to human chromosomes) methodology, staining, identification 2. Table from Part A – this must include a Table Title which explains the table (ie more detail than just a table) 3. Karyotyping Worksheet from Part B – this is to be presented as a figure with a figure legend which explains the karyotype and syndrome. You may include a brief description of the syndrome. 4. The Challenges of creating a karyotype – this is to include potential issues with creating the slides, with the appearance of the chromosomes, staining and identifying the chromosomes. You are expected to research the methodology of preparing human karyotypes. 5. Reference list – all references are to be referred to in the text (Harvard in text referencing), and listed in this section according to the Harvard method
