A comparative essay follows the same format as a literary essay. It has an introduction, body and conclusion. The difference is that instead of focusing on one text, you focus on two. Similar to a literary essay, you must always keep the question central to your argument, and let it guide you in choosing the best method and format, for your response. There are a few ways in which you can compare two texts. Similarities = the same themes, ideas or issues in both text. For example, leadership is a theme in both Ransom and Invictus so you would be comparing how these themes are explored in both texts.
